Ruth Evelyn Fouts, 94, of Dennison, passed away on Monday, April 24, 2017, at Park Village Health Care Center in Dover. Born November 26, 1922 in Gnadenhutten, she was a daughter of the late Joseph William and Carrie (Gram) Gates. She was a 1940 graduate of Junior Order High School in Tiffin, Ohio, and a lifelong Methodist, having been a member of Newport U.M.C. and Pleasant Valley U.M.C. for many years.
On July 4, 1948, Ruth married Robert Wayne Fouts with whom she enjoyed over 50 years of marriage until his passing on March 1, 1999. They are survived by a daughter, Melinda (William) Rainsberger; son, Bob (Barb) Fouts; grandchildren, Britney Fouts, Courtney (Mike) Gribble, Beth (Eric) Shinaberry, and Megan (David) Clarke; and great-grandchildren, Drake, Arlie, Easton, Grady, Emmy, and Olive. Ruth is also survived by her brother- and sisters-in-law, Ralph and Mary Jo Fouts, Janet Gates, and Oma Conway, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Herb, Elmer, and Kenneth Gates.
Ruth was a deeply devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who always put her family first in her life. In her spare time, she loved collecting newspaper clippings and scrapbooking.
Services, officiated by Pastor Larry Malterer, will be held at 1pm on Thursday, April 27, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow beside her beloved husband in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens in Dover. Visitation will be 11am to 1pm on Thursday at the funeral home, prior to her service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church’s Building Fund.
