Ruth Pauline Doane

Ruth Pauline Doane, 82, of Gnadenhutten, passed away on February 12, 2012 at New Dawn Retirement Community following a brief illness. Born July 20, 1929 at Uhrichsville, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Blanche E. (Hand) Carpenter. A life resident our area, Ruth was a 1947 Uhrichsville HS graduate and had worked as a nurse’s aid at Twin City Hospital for over 20 years. Ruth enjoyed cooking and had been an exceptional seamstress.

Ruth married Ralph James Doane who preceded her in death on May 2, 1990.

Ruth’s surviving family includes her daughter Christy Friel of Uhrichsville; 10 grandchildren, Josh and wife Jessie Doane, Jordan and wife Cassie Doane, Justin Doane and companion Krista, Sam Hill, Autumn Doane, Daniel Doane, Audrey Doane, Shelly and husband Chris Thornton, Teresa and husband Brett Donohoe, and Heather and husband Eddy Berndt; 13 Great Grandchildren; 1 Step Great Grandchild; a sister, Sandra Kay and husband Harry Serfas of Illinois; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by a son, Ralph Wilburn Doane, and a brother, Clarence Carpenter, Jr.

In keeping Ruth’s wishes, she will be cremated without a public visitation. Interment will occur at a later date. Those wishing to honor her memory by a memorial contribution are encouraged to do so to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
