Ruth Ellen Davis

Ruth Ellen Davis, 90, of Uhrichsville, passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at New Dawn Retirement Center in Dover. Born October 10, 1923 in Dover, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Maude (Gray) Rentsch.

On November 8, 1943, Ruth married Thomas Clarence Davis with whom she enjoyed nearly 34 years of marriage until his passing on October 6, 1977. They are survived by sons, Jeffrey (Barbara) Davis of New Philadelphia and Thomas (Susan) Davis of Hilton Head, S.C.; and grandchildren, Tommy Davis of Florida and Christy (David) Dyer of South Carolina. She is also survived by a brother, Dale Rentsch of Uhrichsville, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Joanna Davis; siblings: Charles, Edith, Mable, Dean, Roy, Doris, Helen, and Benny; and a dear friend, Robert Murphy.

Ruth was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker who loved caring for her family and home. She was gifted in the domestic arts, especially needlework, including sewing and crocheting. Ruth also developed a real passion for gardening and loved tending to her flowers. In her later years, she worked in home healthcare. Ruth was a member of the Uhrichsville Moose and Eagles Ladies’ Auxiliaries.

In keeping with Ruth’s wishes, she has been cremated without a public visitation. A private, family graveside service will be held in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery where she will be interred with her beloved husband. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice.
