Russel Edward Walters, 93, of Uhrichsville, Ohio, passed away peacefully at the Ohio’s Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia, Ohio on Friday, October 2, 2026. Born July 9, 1933 in Cleveland, Ohio, he was a son of the late Clifford Walters and Margaret (née Goe) Walters Shipton.

Russ proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1956. Following his honorable discharge, he spent many years in the employ of Spring Electric – working as a TV repairman. In 1986, he opened 4-Star Video in Uhrichsville which he and his wife operated until the early 2000’s. Russ was also a bus driver for Claymont Schools for fifteen years. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, was a boxing fan, and loved watching Cleveland baseball.

On December 8, 1957, Russ married the former Jacqueline Jane Valentine with whom he enjoyed nearly 65 years of loving marriage until her passing on February 1, 2022. They leave behind their daughter, Debbie Garrett; grandsons, Ryan (Katrina) Hart and Brandon (Karrie) Garrett; great-grandchildren, Presten Jones, Kamryn Hart, Finley Hart, Ella Kay Flaherty, and Aryana Cleveland; and great-great-grandchild, Zikari Jones. Russ’ sister, Maxine Dillon, and many nieces and nephews complete his surviving family. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Clifford “Duke” Walters.

According to Russ’ wishes, he will be interred beside his beloved wife in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery, and his family will celebrate his life privately. Those wishing to honor his memory by a charitable contribution may do so to their favorite charity, in lieu of flowers.
