The sunrise of Rudy Vlahovich’s life was on July 17, 1940, and his sunset was on Monday, January 26, 2009.
Rudy had a wonder lust for life, dividing his time between Ohio and Florida. His love of Johnny Cash, traveling on a moment’s notice and his zest for his children and grandchildren cannot be forgotten. Those that knew him knew him well. While a quiet man with little to say, he took in life for all that it had while asking for little in return.
To greet Rudy at the gates of heaven were his parents, William and Teresa Vlahovich; brother and sister-in-law, Emil and Dora (McGuire) Simon; sons, William and Michael Vlahovich; and grandson Jacob Speidel.
Those left behind to carry on Rudy’s zests for living life to the fullest on their terms are his sister-in-law, Mary Kay Simon of Ohio, and his daughters and sons-in-law, Debra Vlahovich of St. Augustine, Fla., Michelle and Jack Oster of Gulfport, Fla., and Charleen and Stephen Thomas of St. Augustine, Fla.
Rudy was especially proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Janelle Thomas (Steven Speidel), Gregory and Elissa Pandoff, Stephen Oster, Abi Thomas, Riley Speidel and Jason Speidel.
A memorial to Rudy’s life will be held on Friday, February 20th, 2009 at New Destiny Treatment Center Chapel, 6694 Taylor Road, Clinton, OH 44216, at 1pm, Rev. Lester Rowan presiding. We welcome all to come and share their stories about Rudy and his zest for life with us at that time.
Those wishing to honor Rudy’s memory may do so with flowers or memorial donations in his name to New Destiny Treatment Center.
Dad, we know the Angels in heaven needed you, but our love for you will be as deep as the ocean.
