Ruby G. Septer

Ruby G. Septer, 90, a New Philadelphia resident since 2000, formerly a lifelong resident of Uhrichsville, passed away at her home on Wednesday, March 21, 2018. Born January 21, 1928 in New Boston, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Flavius Joseph and Celia Agnes (Stratton) Harmon.

Ruby was a customer service representative at the former Hart’s department store in New Philadelphia for 25 years until her retirement in 1990. She enjoyed bowling and spending time with her friends in card clubs.

On September 7, 1952, Ruby married Frank Halford Septer with whom she enjoyed 27 years of marriage until his passing on November 1, 1979. She is also preceded in death by her sisters, Virginia Guthrie and Helen Weller; sister-in-law, Geraldine Peter; a niece and a nephew; and a longtime companion, Kenneth West. Her surviving family includes a number of nieces and nephews, including Audrey Edie, Carole Neighbor, and Tom (Barb) Septer; and a sister-in-law, Joyce Preston.

Services, officiated by Rev. Larry Malterer, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 26, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow beside her beloved husband in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
