Ruby B. Arnold, age 93, of Strasburg, formerly of Dover and Dennison, passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at her home, after a period of declining health.
Born in Knowlton, Kentucky on November 4, 1917, Ruby was the daughter of the late William J. and Nancy L. (Spencer) Conway. At an early age, her family moved to the Dennison area. Ruby graduated from Dennison High School. She was a member of the Dennison United Brethren Church which is now the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church. Ruby was active in the Ladies Aid Society and the Women’s Missionary Society. She was also formerly a Sunday School teacher, church organist, and pianist for many years.
Ruby was married to Clyde E. Arnold on December 30, 1934, by Rev. H. Harold Davis in the United Brethren Church. Clyde died on July 18, 1991, after 58 wonderful years of marriage. Also preceded her in death were her parents; three sisters, Bertha (Hiram) Sparks, Lettie (Wilbur) Wallace, and infant Gladys Conway; four brothers, Thaddeus (Letha) Conway, Henry (Olive) Conway, Elmer (Dorothy) Conway, and Harold Conway; and brother-in-law, Joseph Wenger.
Ruby is survived by two daughters, Rev. Nancy L. Arnold of Kentucky and Linda L. (Rev. Joseph) Yong of California; one son, William J. Arnold of Strasburg; one granddaughter, Christi Yong of California; one grandson, Michael Yong of California; one sister, Elsie Wenger of Dennison; one sister-in-law, Josephine Conway of Uhrichsville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
At her request, there will be no calling hours. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery alongside her husband. Arrangements are being handled by the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home.
