Roy Allen Hamilton, 72, of Tuscarawas, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Hennis Care Centre in Dover, Ohio, after suffering a lengthy battle with Frontotemporal Degeneration. Born September 18, 1953 in Dover, he was a son of the late Theodore Warren Hamilton and Mary Elizabeth (Kimmel) Hamilton.
Roy was a Tuscarawas County resident for most of his life with the exception of the years that he served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a 1972 graduate of Claymont High School and a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Tuscarawas. Roy was a 40-year employee of Dover Chemical, having retired in October of 2012. He will be remembered for his passion for anything to do with cars, as well as his handyman skills and love of caring for his home.
On March 21, 1980, Roy married the former Debra Elaine Armstrong who survives him at their home. He is also survived by their two sons, Ted Hamilton and Casey Hamilton; his siblings, Karen (John) Bolitho, Thomas Hamilton, Dale Hamilton, Mary Anne (John) White, and Carole Rice; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Freda Hamilton; brother-in-law, Lee Rice; and sisters-in-law, Donna and Susan Hamilton.
The Rev. A. Wallace Anderson will officiate a 1:00 p.m. funeral on Friday, March 27, at the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison, Ohio where his family will receive callers from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., prior to the service. Interment will follow in Longview Cemetery in Bowerston, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions honoring Roy’s memory may be made to St. James Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 336, Tuscarawas, OH 44682 and The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (“AFTD”), 2700 Horizon Dr., Ste. 120, King of Prussia, PA 19406.
