Rose M. Green

Rose M. Green, 85, of Uhrichsville, O., passed away on October 7, 2009 at Beacon Pointe Rehabilitation Center in Uhrichsville, following a period of declining health.

Born February 2, 1924 in Carnegie, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Mario and Rose Marie (Long) Florio.

A resident of the Twin City area since her early childhood, she was a graduate of Dennison High School in the class of 1942. She then furthered her education at the Union School of Business. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison and its Altar Society, as well as a member of the former Uhrichsville Lady Elks.

In addition to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, she had worked at a variety of jobs over the years. She had been a dispatcher at the former Twin City Cab, a cashier at Big Bear Grocery, a secretary for a local loan company, and had also worked at the former Warner & Swasey for a time, as well as several other places of business.

On September 15, 1958, Rose married Donald Albert “Butch” Green with whom she enjoyed nearly forty-six years of marriage until his passing on October 11, 2004. They are survived by a daughter, Mrs. Kevin (Kim) Willoughby of Dennison; a son, Kevin Green and his wife, Lori, of Dennison; five grandchildren, Mrs. Tyler (Caitlin) McKenzie, Courtney Willoughby, Cooper Lance, Morgan Green, Dustin Willoughby and Mackenzie Willoughby; and a great grandson, Colt R. McKenzie.

Rose is also survived by a sister, Margaret Thompson of Dennison, and several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, David Green, and his wife, Karen.

Rose loved being surrounded by her family and especially enjoyed the time that she spent with her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She also had many dear friends with whom she spent happy times playing cards.

Services for Rose, officiated by Father Anthony Lonzo, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 12, 2009 at Immaculate Conception Church. Interment will follow beside her beloved husband in St. Mary’s Cemetery near Dennison.

Family and friends are invited to call at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., during which time a Christian Wake Service will be held at 6:45 p.m. Those wishing to honor Rose’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Immaculate Conception Elementary.
