Rose Justine Guida

August 10, 1917 — April 13, 2011

Rose Justine Guida, 93, of Uhrichsville, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at Park Village Health Care Center in Dover, Ohio. Born August 10, 1917 in Midvale, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Frank Konrad and Katherine Mary (Novak) Baumholtz.

Rose was a lifelong resident of the Twin City area and member of Immaculate Conception Church. In addition to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and homemaker, she worked for many years in her family’s businesses, the Blue Gable Motel and Lounge and Guida’s Restaurant in Uhrichsville, and Guida’s IGA in Dennison. She dearly loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and enjoyed reading and flower gardening in her spare time. Her family will always cherish their memories of her beautiful singing.

On November 4, 1939, Rose was wed to Victor Joseph Guida with whom she enjoyed over forty-six years of marriage until his passing on March 21, 1986. They are survived by a son, James Paul (JoAnn) Guida of New Philadelphia; two daughters, Rose Marie Mills of Tuscarawas and Victoria Elizabeth (Michael “Pat”) Carpenter of New Philadelphia; eight grandchildren, Tom (Lori) Spencer, Lisa (Brian) Cardani, Justine (Mike) Fredericks, Vicky (Dave Adams) Carpenter, Elizabeth Guida, Victor Guida, Amy (Bob) Heidler, and Erica (Doug) Jones; twelve great grandchildren, Christopher (Kristain), Kelly, Tyler, Alex, Gabrielle, Lauren, Alana, Anthony, Luke, Madeline, Ayden, and Sydney; a brother, Karl F. Baumholtz of the Cleveland area; and several nieces and nephews, including a dear niece, Joyce Wallace.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Jane Newton, and brothers, Paul Baumholtz and Frank K. Baumholtz, Jr.

Services for Rose, officiated by Father Anthony Lonzo, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 18, in Immaculate Conception Church at Dennison. Interment will follow beside her beloved husband in St. Mary’s Cemetery near Dennison. Family and friends are invited to call at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, during which time a Christian Wake Service will be held at 7:30 p.m., after which Elizabeth Guida, Victor Guida, and Erica Jones will offer a eulogy on behalf of the family. Those wishing to honor Rose’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Immaculate Conception Church’s Capital Campaign.
