Rose Marie Arnold

November 4, 1928 — September 9, 2012

Rose Marie Arnold, 83, of Uhrichsville, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2012 at Beacon Pointe Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness. Born November 4, 1928 in Uhrichsville, she was a daughter of the late Martin and Mary (Horvath) Palian.

Rose was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker who loved caring for her family and home, especially her flower gardens where she spent countless happy hours. She will be fondly remembered for her gracious hospitality as her home was always open to any family or friends traveling in the area. Her delicious lemon pies and homemade spaghetti sauce are just a couple examples of her wonderful cooking and baking that her family will miss. In her younger years, she had also worked for the former Scio Pottery for a time, as well as volunteering at the Dennison Depot Canteen.

On October 29, 1947, she married Earl Howard Arnold with whom she spent over forty-five years of marriage until his passing on June 25, 1992. They are survived by four daughters, Debbie (Steve) Pounds, Linda (companion, Lee Hampton) West and Nancy (Chuck) Marty of Uhrichsville and Janet Lillo of Massillon; grandchildren, Doug West of Dennison, Mike (Alison) Lillo of Las Vegas, Nevada, Travis (Nicole) Arnold of Centreville, Virginia, Trent (Meggie) Marty of Lincolnton, North Carolina, Shasta (Jon) Siepker of Akron, Nathan (Marcy) Pounds of Sherrodsville and Cody Pounds of Uhrichsville. Rose is also survived by her sister, Helen Fawcett of Uhrichsville, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jim Lillo; sister, Mary M. (Lemoine “Jeep”) Staten; and brothers, Stanley and Frank Palian.

Services for Rose, officiated by Pastor Scot Caley, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 14, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow beside her beloved husband in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Those wishing to honor Rose’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Ave. S.W., New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
