Rose Ann “Sally” McPeek, 89, of Uhrichsville, O., passed away at the home of her granddaughter, Brenda Burdette, on Wednesday, February 3, 2010, following a period of declining health.
Born October 14, 1920 in Barnhill, O., she was a daughter of the late Jasper Harrison and Emma Lena (Davis) Page.
A lifelong resident of our area, Sally attended the former St. Theresa Catholic Church. In addition to being a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and homemaker, she had also been a cook for Bonvechio’s Restaurant and L&K Restaurant for many years until her retirement in 1971. Her interests included reading, painting and flower arranging.
On February 18, 1939, Sally married John R. McPeek with whom she enjoyed over fifty-three years of marriage until his passing on June 15, 1992. They are survived by two daughters: Mrs. William J. (Sally) Hall of Stillwater and Mrs. John (Janice) Gialluca of Jackson Twp., Massillon, O.; six granddaughters: Brenda, Kelly, Missy, Shannon, Michelle and Amy; six grandsons: Todd, Donnie, Michael, Johnny, David and John “J.J.”; sixteen great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. They were preceded in death by a son, Dr. John Michael McPeek.
The last of her generation, Sally was also preceded in death by six brothers: Robert, Jesse, Frank, William, Charles and Jerry Page; and two sisters: Thelma Belknap and Eva Christner. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Sally’s wishes, a private family service is planned. Interment will follow in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Tuscarawas, Stark and Carroll Counties.
