Ronald R. Marcaletti, 76, of New Philadelphia, O., passed away on Friday, December 4, 2009 at The Cleveland Clinic following an extended illness.
Born December 1, 1933 near Wainwright, O., he was a son of the late Mario Raymond and Alta Hazel (Edie) Marcaletti.
After graduating from Uhrichsville High School in the class of 1951, Ron served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, having been stationed on the U.S.S. Sproston.
After a long career as a union representative for the A.F.L.C.I.O., he has spent more than ten years as the operator of Formflite Archery. Ron had a passion for teaching and helped many people hone their archery skills over the years. He also loved radio-controlled airplanes and was a member of Old Town Valley Radio-Controlled Airplane Club. Ron was well known as a staunch supporter of the Democratic Party.
Ron was a man of many talents who enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and hunting, having made his own muzzle loaders. He was a skilled carpenter who not only built his house, but truly made it a home with the help of family and friends. He has passed on many fine traits to his grandsons of whom he was very proud. Ron’s many friends and acquaintances will remember him as a man who truly loved people and who knew no strangers.
Ron’s surviving family includes a son, Mark Marcaletti of Ft. Smith, Ark.; two daughters, Robyn McQuade and her husband, Marty, of Helendale, Ca. and Belle Everett of Wainwright; his longtime companion, Deanna Grill of the home; a stepson, Tony Grill of Dover; a stepdaughter, Leslie Moffat of Cleveland; grandchildren, Josh and Chris Marcaletti, Nick and Nathan Everett, and Kate and Lindsey Moffat; several great grandchildren, including his newest great granddaughter, Adlee Marcaletti; his brother, Richard Marcaletti and his wife, Cheryl, of New Philadelphia; his stepmother, Sally Marcaletti of Indiana; his beloved canine companion, Dallas; and a number of nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
In keeping with Ron’s wishes, he has been cremated without a public visitation or service. A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison with an hour of visitation prior to the service. Those wishing to honor Ron’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, in lieu of flowers.
