Ronald Dillen

Ronald E. Dillen, 58, of Uhrichsville, passed away suddenly at his home on Monday, August 29, 2011. Born June 28, 1953 in Berea, O., he was a son of the late Earl Charles and Anne Marie (Hanke) Dillen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Sandra (Fulks) Dillen, on December 2, 1990.

Ron was a resident of Brunswick, O. for much of his life and was a 1972 graduate of Brunswick High School. He furthered his education by attending mechanical trade school and later Officer Training School which certified him to serve as a police officer in Brunswick for a number of years. He had also worked for the Medina Gazette and retired from Brunswick Public Schools where he had been a site manager. A great lover of the outdoors, Ron was a certified forester and member of the Tree Farm Association. He also loved everything to do with railroads.

On February 14, 1997, Ron married Janis L. (Thoma) Dillen who survives him at their home. He is also survived by children, John Dillen of West Virginia, Chris Dillen of Uhrichsville, Jennifer (Scott) Herda of Medina, Jackie (Danny) Herda of Uhrichsville, and Joe Herda of New Philadelphia; grandchildren, Kyle, Katie, Kaden, Kael, Isaac, and Isabella; sister, Betty Conner of Valley City, O.; brothers, Don (Linda) Dillen of Strongsville and Jerry (Marty) Dillen of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

Services for Ron will be held on Thursday at 4:00 p.m. at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Those wishing to honor his memory with a memorial contribution are encouraged to do so to the charity of their choice.
