Roger L. Cole

July 4, 1952 — January 27, 2015

Roger L. Cole, 62, of New Philadelphia, passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Community Hospice House in New Philadelphia. Born July 4, 1952 in Dennison, he was a son of the late Charles V. and Ada M. (Orr) Cole.

A lifelong resident of the area, Roger was a 1970 graduate of Claymont High School. He began his career in manufacturing at Alsco where he worked until their closing, and most recently had been employed by Marathon Manufacturing for the past 19 years. Roger’s passion was racing and throughout most of his life, he lived, ate and breathed short track racing. He will be deeply missed by his many friends at the area tracks where he was well known.

Roger is survived by his loving companion, Pam Potter of the home; sisters, Tina (Mark) Bober of Dover and Shirley Rowland of Tuscarawas; sister-in-law, Thelma Cole of Hampton, Virginia; many nieces and nephews; and a host of dear friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Dick Cole; sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Joe Bania; brother-in-law, Bill Rowland; paternal grandparents, Merryman and Anna Cole; and maternal grandparents, Ancil and Leafy Orr.

Services for Roger, officiated by Pastor Brian Flood, will be held at 4pm on Saturday, January 31, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Visitation will be 2-4pm on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Ave. S.W., New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
