Rodney Alan Wimer, 73, of Uhrichsville, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 26, 2018, from Aultman Hospital in Canton. Born January 25, 1945 in Maywood, California, he was a son of the late Robert Henry and Marine Lorraine (Hood) Wimer.
A Twin City resident since 1991, Rod lived much of his life in California where he was a member of the Bay Area Mountain Men. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed goose and dove hunting, fishing and telling a good story. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps before beginning his career as a truck driver. Locally, he was a member of Park Christian Church in Dennison.
On August 5, 1967, Rod married the former Janice Elaine Lenarz who survives him along with their children, Darren (Tracy) Wimer and Patricia (Robert) Mahaffey; grandchildren, Melissa Zortman, Amanda (Jeff) Margo, Jessica Sheely, Morgan Wimer, Makenna Wimer, Sean Mahaffey, Tianna Mahaffey, Courtney Watson and Brody Mahaffey; and 13 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Robert (Karen) Wimer and Donna (George) Hazelton, and many nieces and nephews.
Pastor Scot Caley will officiate a 1:00 p.m. service on Friday, November 30, in Park Christian Church in Dennison. Visitation will be at the church from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Park Christian Church and the American Heart Association.
