Rodney E. Striker

Rodney E. Striker, 59, of Dennison, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2012 following a courageous battle with cancer. Born February 10, 1953, he was a son of the late David Russell “Sonny” Striker, Sr. and Mary Jean (Kody) Striker Bloom.

A life resident of our area, Rodney attended Indian Valley North schools and was a retired railroader. In his younger years, Rodney had been a Golden Gloves boxer and enjoyed working on cars. Rodney’s greatest joy came from spending time with his family.

Rodney’s surviving family includes his daughter, Lisa Ann Striker and fiancé Thomas Murray of FL; a stepson, Frederick Michael Miller of Dover; grandchildren, William “Billy” Crites of Uhrichsville and Alisha K. Penrod of FL; step granddaughter, Elyssa Dawn Miller of Dover; sisters, Rose and husband Dewey Thomas of Dennison, Carol Jones and fiancé Mark Glauser of Gnadenhutten, Sue and husband Tom Gleason of VA, and Pinky Proctor of Norwalk; half sisters, Monica and husband Fred Anderson of Uhrichsville, Sherry Bloom of Bolivar, Christy Bloom of Canton, Pat Milburn of Uhrichsville, and Della Cook of Cincinnati; half brothers, Tink and wife Cindy Coen of Uhrichsville and Mickey and wife Penny Coen of Dennison; and numerous nieces and nephews, including Melissa and husband Herbert Morris of Uhrichsville who cared for Rodney during his illness.

In addition to his parents, Rodney was preceded in death by his brothers David Russell Striker, Jr. and Richard Allen Striker.

Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service for Rodney, officiated by Pastor Brian Flood, on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at 10:00 am in Union Cemetery at Uhrichsville.
