Robert J. “Bob” Wagner, 56, of Uhrichsville, O., died suddenly on Monday, March 22, 2010 at Aultman Hospital in Canton, O.
Born March 12, 1954 at Cleveland, O., he was a son of the late William Henry and Hildegard (Gerhardt) Wagner.
A resident of Lexington, O. for much of his younger life, he was a graduate of Lexington High School in the class of 1972 and a member of the Presbyterian Church in Lexington. After high school, Bob obtained his certification in HVAC from Terra Technical College in Fremont, O. He was currently employed as the maintenance supervisor for the Fitzgerald family who operate thirteen Subway restaurants throughout East Central Ohio.
Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Marines, obtaining the rank of Staff Seargeant, and as a member of the U.S. Air Force Reserve served a tour of duty in Kyrgystan during Operation Enduring Freedom. He was a member of the New Philadelphia V.F.W. Post.
Having lived in the Twin City area for the past 22 years, Bob attended Uhrichsville First Moravian Church and was a member of Mystic Tie Lodge #194. He was also a member of the N.R.A. and the local H.O.G. Chapter.
Bob was the devoted husband of Jill (Hasseman) Wagner for 31 years, whom he married on September 2, 1978, and the loving father of their two daughters, Sarah (Lee) Ledford of Uhrichsville, completing her education at Kent State University, and Lauren Wagner of the home, currently attending Ashland University. He loved spending time with his family and was PaPa to his three grandchildren, Tori Meadow, Danika Bryn and Brier Dean.
Bob was an avid Harley-Davidson enthusiast and proud owner of a 2009 Road King. He was also a passionate outdoorsman and hunter. He especially loved to travel with his wife on the Harley.
Bob is also survived by a brother, Hal Wagner of Crestline, O.; his mother-in-law, Patricia Hasseman; four brothers-in-law, Rod (Chris) Hasseman, Bob (Debbie) Hasseman, Jim (Kathy) Hasseman, and Steve (Shelley) Hasseman; a sister-in-law, Jan Hasseman; an aunt, Mary Lou Gorze; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Services for Bob, officiated by Rev. William E. Surber, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 27, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. Interment will follow in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery with a military committal service.
Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
