Robert William Simpson

Robert W. Simpson, 69, of Dennison, O., passed away suddenly on Friday June 11, 2010 at Twin City Hospital in Dennison.

Born November 28, 1940 in Dennison, Bob was the son of Jasper Earl and Ina Pearl (Liggett) Simpson.

Bob lived his entire life on his beloved family farm where he worked for many years as a grain and dairy farmer. He was also a district manager for OYO Seeds, was a truckdriver, and had been a tour bus operator for over ten years, including a time with his own company, Tusco Tours.

After graduating from Uhrichsville High School in the class of 1958, Bob completed the Agricultural Short Course at Ohio State University. He was a member of 4-H for ten years before serving the youth of our area as a 4-H advisor for twenty years. He was also a member of the River Valley Antique Tractor Pullers and the Farm Bureau. Bob was especially well known for his barbequed chicken. In his early years, he did as many as 5,000 halves at a time. He was also a lifelong member of Uhrichsville First United Methodist Church.

Bob is survived by his wife of forty-one years, Linda M. (Morton) Simpson, whom he married on April 5, 1969. His other surviving family includes his uncle and aunt, Willard and Ruth Liggett of Dennison; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Laurel and John Wertz of Dalton, O., Robert H. and Cheryl Morton of North Canton, and Richard L. and Karen Morton of Medina; numerous nieces and nephews; many dear cousins to whom he was very close; and his good friend and tractor pulling buddy, Doug Cross.

Services for Bob, officiated by Rev. John W. Clark, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 15, in Uhrichsville First United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia at a later date.

Family and friends are invited to call at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Those wishing to honor Bob’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the Uhrichsville First United Methodist Church.
