Robert D. "Bobby" Capell

Robert Douglas “Bobby” Capell, 54, of the Tappan Lake area, passed away unexpectedly at his home on December 2, 2016. Born March 1, 1962 in Crestline, Ohio, he was a son of the late Robert Elmer and Mary Kathryn “Mary Kay” (Maust) Capell.

Until 2008 when he moved to Tappan to care for his mother, Bobby had lived in Maryland where he was graduated from Hammond High School and had owned and operated Star Welding. For the past eight years, he loved serving with the Tappan Volunteer Fire Department, having been a past Vice-President. He enjoyed relaxing at home with a cold beer and watching NASCAR.

Bobby is survived by his children, Robert “Bobby” Capell, Jr., Kristie Capell, and Amy (Matt) Higgins; grandchildren, Daniel Capell and Bella Bolding; siblings, Kathy (Roger) Eaglin and James (Sharon) Capell; and nephew, Jay Capell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Capell.

In keeping with Bobby’s wishes, he has been cremated, and a celebration of his life is planned for a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
