Rick A. West

Rick A. West, 56, of the Tappan Lake area went to be with the Lord on April 24, 2012 following complications from open heart surgery. Born on November 30, 1955 at Dover, he was a son of Kenneth E. West of Uhrichsville and the late Tillie Ann (Dalpiaz) West.

Rick was a 1974 graduate of Claymont HS where he was a proud drummer in the Claymont Marching 100. Rick continued his education at Kent State University where he graduated in 1978.

Rick has worked in the banking industry in our area for the past 34 years; the last 22 of those years have been for BankOne/Chase Bank where he currently was Vice President of Chase Banks in Ohio. Most recently Rick was the small business bank officer at the Dover location and had previously been the bank manager at the Uhrichsville branch. Rick served his community tirelessly, having been the Conotton Valley Board of Education President from 1999 to present, Claymont Jaycees President, Claymont Housing Board President, Twin City Chamber Board President, Grace United Methodist Church Administrative Chairman and Finance Chairman, and been a board member for the Harrison County Industries Workshop. When Rick wasn’t working or volunteering, he could be found at Tappan Lake, swimming and boating with his family and friends.

On April 3, 1982 Rick married Irma L. (Stinard) in the Grace United Methodist Church, and together they recently celebrated 30 years of marriage. In addition to his wife, Rick’s other surviving family includes his children, Cody A. and Kady A. West both of Cleveland; brothers, Ronald E. West and wife, Barbara and Steve West and wife Dana, all of Tappan; nieces and nephews, Kassey and husband Brian Mathews, Jasey Mathews, Kaleigh West, Luke West and Leah West; mother-in-law, Rhea Stinard of Uhrichsville; and many special aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

In addition to his mother, Rick is preceded in death by a nephew, Jason West; a great nephew, Joey West; and his father-in-law James Stinard.

Services for Rick, officiated by Pastor Larry Malterer and Pastor Daniel Legg will be held on Friday at 11:00 am at the Grace United Methodist Church in Uhrichsville. Interment will follow in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00pm Thursday at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Those wishing to honor his memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Grace United Methodist Church and Conotton Valley Schools.
