Richard L. West

Richard Leroy “Dick” West, 64, of Freeport, Ohio, until recently a longtime resident of Uhrichsville, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, January 25, 2012. Born October 8, 1947 in Dennison, Ohio, he was the son of the late Willard Rex and Marie Kathryn (DeVore) West.

Dick was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps who proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. With the exception of his years of military service, he was a lifelong resident of the area. He was a heavy equipment operator for the Kimble Co. and a member of the Uhrichsville Eagles who enjoyed camping.

On March 29, 1993, Dick married the former Christy Sue Risley. She preceded him in death on July 29, 2006. His surviving family includes son, Doug West of Dennison; step son, Clifford Risley of New Philadelphia; a step daughter, Kim Perry of Uhrichsville; step grandchildren, Cameron Risley, and Santanna and Breanna Morrison; and a sister, Jean Olstrom.

He will be interred beside his beloved wife, Christy, in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery.
