Richard Frank Treacle, 91, of Uhrichsville, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 25, 2015, while surrounded by his loving family at Community Hospice in New Philadelphia. Born January 29, 1924 in Uhrichsville, he was a son of the late James William and Anna Rose (Merritt) Treacle.
Richard was a 1942 graduate of Uhrichsville High School before beginning his long career, first as a molder with Evans Pipe Co., and later as a service technician at Joy Manufacturing Co. from which he retired. He was also a graduate of Canton Electronics School. He was a member of AARP, RSVP, the Class of 1942 Lunch Group and the Joy Retirees Breakfast Group, as well as being a life member of the Railroad and Clay Museums. In his spare time, he was an avid woodworker. Richard was also a faithful member of Dennison First Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon, Session Member, and Delegate to the 181st General Assembly in San Antonio, Texas.
On October 4, 1947, Richard married the former Myrtle A. Quillen who survives him. He is also survived by their son, Richard J. Treacle; grandson, Ryan J. Treacle; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Charles J. Treacle, and brothers, Eugene and James “Ed” Treacle.
A graveside service, officiated by Rev. Carolyn Behrendt, will be held at 1pm on Monday, December 28, 2015, in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. No visitation is planned. Memorial contributions may be made to Dennison First Presbyterian Church and Community Hospice.
