Richard Dean Schupp, 81, of Dennison, O., died Friday, December 17, 2010 at Twin City Hospital in Dennison after a period of declining health. Born June 20, 1929 in Gilmore, O., he was a son of the late Oliver Benjamin “O.B.” and Lotta May (Huston) Schupp.
Dick was a lifelong resident of the area, a 1949 graduate of Gnadenhutten High School, and a life member of the Uhrichsville Elks. He also attended Kent State University for a time. He was the owner and proprietor of Dick’s Evergreens.
On January 9, 1949 he married the former Clara Nelda “Cherry” Wilcoxen who preceded him in death on December 10, 2008. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Karin Schupp, and his stepmother, Margaret (Huston) Schupp Hartline.
Dick’s surviving family includes his son, Jeff Schupp of Dennison; a sister, Norma Martin of Gnadenhutten; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Helen and Harry Lane and Ethel and Ted Shilladay, all of Columbus; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
According to Dick’s wishes, he has been cremated without a public visitation or service and his cremated remains will be scattered over his favorite lake in Upper Peninsula Michigan.
