Richard Allen “Rick” Burcher, 55, of Port Washington, passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2021, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. Born January 19, 1966 in Dennison, he was a son of Frances Marie “Fran” (Enos) Burcher, who survives him, and the late John Thomas Burcher.
Rick was a lifelong area resident and a 1984 graduate of Indian Valley South High School. He worked for Stone Container for a number of years before transitioning to a career as a mechanic. He enjoyed playing men’s softball and will be remembered as “Radar” by his teammates. Throughout his life, his first love was always racing, especially with his son. He was a member of the Uhrichsville Moose and the Dennison Eagles.
He will be deeply missed by his surviving family which includes his mother, Fran; son, Brock (Ashley) Burcher; grandsons, Bexley and Blake Burcher; brother, Jamie (Kelly) Burcher; sister, Chris Burcher; a large extended family of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins; and a host of dear friends and racing buddies. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Paul Enos, Marie McMasters, and John and Mildred Burcher.
Services, officiated by Pastor Chad Stutzman, will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 23, at the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Victory Junction, 4500 Adam's Way, Randleman, NC 27317.
