Richard Edward Mazur, 71, of Uhrichsville, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Acuity Specialty Hospital in Steubenville, Ohio after a lengthy illness. Born August 10, 1941 in Akron, Ohio, he was a son of the late Edward Joseph Mazur and Geraldine Frances (Wells) Mazur Sheff.
A resident of Tuscarawas County for over twenty years, Richard spent much of his life in Northeast Ohio and was a graduate of Revere High School in West Richfield in the class of 1959. He was an employee of Massey-Ferguson and the Ford Motor Company. Richard was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting from the age of 12. He was a fan of country music and enjoyed dancing and having a good time with his friends. He was Catholic by faith.
Richard is survived by a son, Richard F. Mazur; a sister and brother-in-law, Susan C. and Max C. Meltzer of Missoula, Montana; a niece, Michelle L. McLaren of Round Rock, Texas; a nephew, Matthew T. McLaren of Phoenix, Arizona; an uncle and aunt, Thomas and Jan Mazur of St. Petersburg, Florida; and six cousins.
In accordance with Richard’s wishes, he has been cremated without a public visitation or service. He will be interred at Holy Cross Cemetery in Akron. Those wishing to honor his memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the Tuscarawas County Humane Society, 6895 Dover-Zoar Rd. N.E., Dover, OH 44622, in lieu of flowers.
