Richard David “Smoke” Hamma, 63, of New Philadelphia passed away on October 27, 2015 after a long courageous battle with multiple medical issues. Born October 20, 1952 in Dover, he was a son of the late Robert and Katie Hamma. He is also preceded in death by a sister, Patricia.
Smoke is survived by his longtime companion, Mary L. Massarelli of the home; daughter, Nicole (fiancé, Cody Phelps); brothers, Michael Hamma, Rob (Dale) Hamma; sisters, Mary Jo Hamma and Laurie (Peanut) Kinsey; step-son, Johnny (Kimberly) Baldwin; granddaughters, Amber Jo (Jeramey) Vertlebeck, and Abbey (fiancé, Cory Price) Baldwin; great grandchildren, JJ Vertlebeck and Aubrey Price; a special nephew, Jesse Charles; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Smoke loved his dogs, Emma, Korky, and Tess. He enjoyed golfing and playing his guitar. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him. Smoke was a lifelong resident of the area and a 1971 graduate of Dover High School.
