Richard Alan Carpenter

Richard Alan Carpenter, 70, of Newcomerstown, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2018, at Riverside Manor, after a period of declining health. Born October 15, 1947 in Dennison, he was a son of the late Harry Frank and Betty Eileen (Nelson) Carpenter. Richard was a 1966 graduate of Claymont High School who had worked for the former Scio Pottery, Leroy Dietrick and Goodwill Industries.

On March 17, 1984, he married Karen Sue (Garabrandt) Carpenter with whom he enjoyed nearly 22 years of marriage until her passing on August 16, 2006. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Carpenter. His surviving family includes siblings, Sandy Egler, Kenneth (companion, Terrie) Carpenter, Karen (Kenneth) Maple and Bonita (companion, Mike) Harper, and numerous nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Laurie (Mike) White.

In keeping with Richard’s wishes, cremation is planned without a public visitation. Rev. Richard Treat and Pastor Shannin Treat will officiate a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 1, in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery where he will be interred beside his beloved wife.
