Richard Joseph Albaugh, 80, of Dennison, Ohio, passed away at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, April 5, 2025. Born January 7, 1945 in Dennison, he was the last surviving son of the late Charles Eugene “Gene” and Agnes Marie (LeMonte) Albaugh, having been preceded in death by his brothers, Charles E. Albaugh, Jr. and James Albaugh.
After his 1963 graduate from Dennison High School, Dick began his long career as a steel worker. He spent 30 years employed by A K Steel in Dover where many of his co-workers knew him as Ozzy. In retirement, he was a van driver for the Tuscarawas County Senior Center – a job that he truly loved which allowed to meet many new friends and co-workers. Anyone who knew Dick could tell you how much he loved Elvis and his music, and that he was never happier than when he was mowing his grass. He will always be remembered for his orneriness, and he will truly be loved and missed always.
On May 3, 1964, Dick married Dixie L. (McCauley) Albaugh who survives him along with their children, Doug (Danielle) Albaugh and Deb Edwards; grandchildren, David Edwards, Denise (Jimmy) McConnell, Dylan (JoJo) Albaugh, Blake Albaugh, and Dorian (Drew) Albaugh; and great-grandchildren, Chloe, Laden, Kale, Maddie, Rowan, Maverick, and Archer. Dick leaves behind many friends including special family friends, Gary, Val, Ethan, and Evan, as well as a large extended family with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Heidi Willison will officiate a 1:00 p.m. funeral on Friday, April 11, at the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison where his family will receive callers from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday, prior to the service. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery near Dennison. Those wishing to honor Dick’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Interim Hospice and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
