Reynold J. Casimir, 95, of Dennison, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at Beacon Pointe Rehabilitation Center in Uhrichsville. Born September 24, 1919 in Dennison, he was a son of the late Fiorendo and Elizabeth (Ruffini) Casimir.
A lifelong resident of Dennison, Reynold was a trackman from 1936 to 1980, having worked for the Pennsylvania and Penn Central Railroads before retiring from Conrail. He proudly served his country in the Army during World War II, stationed in the European Theater and then with the 727th Railway Battalion upon his return home. He was a member of the Dennison American Italian Club since 1937, and was also a member of the Tuscarawas V.F.W. and the Dennison American Legion. Throughout his life, he was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison. He will be deeply missed by his family to whom he was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
On June 26, 1948, Reynold married the former Clara Rose Rondinella with whom he enjoyed nearly 61 years of marriage until her passing on April 28, 2009. They are survived by a daughter, Nancy (Joe) Bourne of Port Washington; sons, Ronald (Kathy) Casimir of Tuscarawas and Edward (Sue) Casimir of Dover; grandchildren, Tiffany (Tony) Cippalone, John (Brandie) Bourne, Shane Casimir, Michael (Lindsay) Casimir, Matthew (Erica) Casimir, Karla (companion, Jimmy) Bourne, Cameron Casimir, and Katie Casimir; and great-grandchildren, Sara, Chad, Casey, Cael, Isaac, and Mason. He is also survived by his siblings, Armond Casimir and Rose Flanagon; brother and sisters-in-law, Theodore and Mary Rondinella, Irene Cercone, and Evelyn Rondinella; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Alan Casimir, and siblings, Anthony Casmirre and Mary Conconi.
Father Jeff Coning will celebrate the funeral Mass on Friday, May 22, at 10am in Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison. Interment will follow beside his beloved wife in St. Mary’s Cemetery near Dennison. Visitation will be 5-8pm on Thursday in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison, concluding with a Christian Wake Service at 7:45pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Church’s Memorial Book Fund and Community Hospice.
