Rev. Roxie L. Thompson

July 8, 1939 — March 8, 2009

Rev. Roxie L. Thompson, 69, of Dennison, O., was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 8, 2009.

Born July 8, 1939 in Bellaire, O., she was a daughter of the late Frank and Margaret Virginia (Cook) Farrier and a graduate of Bellaire High School.

Roxie was a retired Foursquare Gospel minister who had graduated with a Masters Degree in Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary. She served as pastor in Methodist congregations in Grafton, Jewett and New Rumley, O., as well as in a congregation in Uhrichsville.

She had a lifelong passion for helping others, having taken in countless people, caring for them like they were her own family and giving them a hand up when they needed. She also loved caring for her family and her home, especially enjoying the time that she spent in her flower gardens or in beautifying her home.

On November 7, 1997, she married Rev. Bill Thompson who survives her. She is also survived by a son, Rockie Patterson of Rockville, Md.; a daughter, Cheryl Madonna of Bronx, N.Y.; three grandsons, Joe, Mike and Paul Madonna; a sister, Teresa Venham of Shadyside, O.; and a nephew and two nieces, John, Tracy and Shawnda.

In addition to her parents, Roxie was preceded in death by her sister, Sue Fawcett, with whom she had been very close.

In keeping with Roxie’s wishes, a private family graveside service will be held in Fairview Cemetery at Jewett, O. where she will be buried beside her beloved sister, Sue.

Those wishing to honor her memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the charity of their choice.
