Rebecca J. Murphy

Rebecca Jean Murphy, 66, of New Philadelphia, was called home to the Lord suddenly on Thursday, September 28, 2023, from Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital in Dover. Born February 24, 1957 in Dennison, she was a daughter of the late John Wallace and Marian Eileen (Davis) Granfell.

On June 12, 1977, Becky married Robert G. Murphy who survives her at their home. She is also survived by their children, Jessica E. (Keith) Klingler and Ryan Murphy, and grandson, Dean Klingler. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Mary Josephine Granfell, William Terazzi, and John M. Granfell.

Becky was a lifelong Tuscarawas County resident and a 1975 graduate of Claymont High School. She had been a member of the former Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Dennison for many years, prior to its closing. Most of all, Becky was a wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker who had devoted herself to the loving care and nurture of her family and home. She will be remembered for her talent as a seamstress and the beautiful creations that she sewed for family and friends.

Pastor Tom Hendershot will officiate a 1:00 p.m. funeral on Monday, October 2, at the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Becky’s family will receive callers from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home, prior to her service. Those wishing to honor her memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the charity of their choice.
