Yesterday, we lost a great man when Raymond O. “Butch” Baldwin, Jr., 65, of Dennison, Ohio, passed away at Aultman Hospital in Canton, Ohio, early on Monday, April 16, 2012, after a brief illness. Born September 6, 1946 in Dennison, he was a son of the late Raymond O. Baldwin, Sr. and Elsie May (Hunter) Baldwin.
Butch was a graduate of Midvale High School in 1964 before serving his country in the U.S. Navy from 1965 to 1969, including two tours in Vietnam. He retired from Dover Chemical in 2009 after more than thirty-five years of employment. Butch was an avid golfer and loved traveling to Las Vegas with his wife and friends. He also loved playing with and walking his dog, Yogi.
On February 2, 1985, Butch married the former Robin R. Bloom who survives him at their home. He is also survived by their two children, SSgt. Joshua R. Baldwin and his friend, Michelle, of Rapid City, South Dakota and Jacob R. Baldwin of the home; his sister, Bonnie M. (John) Daugherty of Barnhill; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Belle and Jack Everett of New Philadelphia, Christal and Brent Adams of Hickory Grove, South Carolina, Bo Bloom of Uhrichsville, and Marty and Karen Bloom of Dennison; mother-in-law, Barbara Croniser of Uhrichsville; numerous nieces and nephews, including Rick Risher, Mike Risher, Susan Monticelli, and Karen Chambers, to whom he was especially close; and his good friends, John and Val Gibbs and Mark and Joy Andreatta. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny R. Baldwin, and his father-in-law, Robert G. Bloom.
In keeping with Butch’s wishes, he has been cremated. Family and friends are invited to gather at his home on Sunday, April 22, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. for a time of sharing memories and celebrating his life. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
