Raymond K. Mcvicker, Jr.

Raymond K. McVicker, Jr., 74, of Uhrichsville, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2019 at Claymont Health and Rehabilitation in Uhrichsville. Born November 27, 1944 in Martins Ferry, Ohio, he was a son of the late Raymond K. and Lillian Mae (Stillwagon) McVicker.

Ray was a 1963 graduate of Adena High School before proudly serving his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1963 to 1967, honorably discharged as a Sr. Airman. He also served in the Army Reserves in Bellaire for a year and was the commander of the Dennison American Legion for 3 years. Ray was employed by Y & O Coal in Hopedale for over 20 years, then by Aleris Aluminum Corp. in Uhrichsville for 18 years until his retirement in 2007. He was active in his community in the Lions Club, Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, Volunteer Fire Department, Girls Summer Softball, and Wolf Education Center at Wolf Timbers. In his spare time, he enjoyed stock car racing, camping, hunting, fishing and ATV riding.

On January 9, 1988, Ray married the former Diana Lynn Diloreto who survives him. He is also survived by children, Darlene (Travis) Sikon, Tammy (Chuck) Skinner, and Kenneth (Jill) McVicker; stepdaughters, Paula (Ron Jackson) Robinson and Tracy Nagy; 10 grandchildren; 10  great-grandchildren; sister, Patty (Rev. Rod) Bowers; brother, Pat (Vicky) McVicker; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, Maggie.

Services, officiated by Rev. Rod Bowers, will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 16, at the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow with a military committal service at Ridgecrest Memory Gardens in Dover. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
