Raymond A. Mizer

Raymond A. Mizer, 46, of New Philadelphia, O., passed away at his home on Saturday, October 10, 2009, following a brief, but courageously fought battle with cancer.

Born January 15, 1963 in Dover, O., he was a son of Marilyn Kay (Rose) Mizer of New Philadelphia and the late Glen Raymond Mizer.

Ray was a loving husband to his wife, the former Jill Ann Wheeler, whom he married on March 14, 1998, and a devoted and loving father to his son, Ryan Mizer, daughter, RaeAnn Mizer and stepson, Matthew Wheeler, all of the home.

He loved spending time with his family which includes three brothers, Richard Mizer and his wife, Nancy, of New Philadelphia, Dave Mizer and his wife, Michelle, of Midvale, and Jeff Mizer and his wife, Kathy, of Bolivar; a sister, Pam Renicker and her husband, Terry, of New Philadelphia; many nieces and nephews; and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins, in addition to his mother, wife and children.

A lifelong resident of the area, Ray was a graduate of Indian Valley North High School in the class of 1981. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish, as well as play golf, with his brothers and his friends from work. Ray had spent the last twenty-three years as an employee of Aleris and had previously worked for Dover Conveyor.

Services for Ray, officiated by Pastor Dode Overton, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 15, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
