Ray W. Zeigler, 73, of Uhrichsville, O., passed away due to natural causes, at his home, on Sunday, December 19, 2010. Born July 7, 1937 in Dennison, O., he was a son of the late Karl and Marie Alice (Tremblay) Zeigler.
Ray attended St. Mary’s School in Dennison before serving his country in the U.S. Navy. In 1993, Ray retired from the former Reeves Steel where he had worked for 31 years. Ray was an avid hunter and fisherman, and also enjoyed bluegrass music and electronic gadgets.
On November 15, 1959, Ray married the former Elizabeth Lucille “Libbie Lou” Clark with whom he enjoyed over forty-seven years of marriage until her passing on March 18, 2007. They are survived by two sons, David Zeigler of New Philadelphia and Douglas Ray and wife Stacie Zeigler of Columbus; a daughter, Susan Rae Hammary and her husband, Scott, of Brightwood; and four grandchildren, Ashley, Madison, Caden, and Austin Zeigler.
Ray is also survived by three sisters, Fay L. Zeigler of Dennison, T. Ann Riley of Dover, and Josephine Smith of Cape Coral, Fla.; a brother, James C. and wife JoAnne Zeigler of Dover; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Elizabeth Rae Zeigler; a sister, L. Jane Umpleby; and two brothers, Joseph T. Zeigler and Rev. Fr. Edmund K. Zeigler.
Services for Ray, officiated by Rev. Mark Unrue, will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday December 22, 2010 in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. Interment will be beside his beloved wife in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Wednesday December 22, 2010
