Ray D. Shuss, 92, of Dennison, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at Beacon Pointe Rehabilitation Center in Uhrichsville. Born August 29, 1923, in Harrison County near Feed Spring, he was a son of the late George Harm and Elsie (West) Shuss.
On June 8, 1948, Ray married the former Roberta L. Warner with whom he enjoyed over 58 years of marriage until her passing on September 26, 2006. They are survived by sons, R. Scott (Dina) Shuss and Doug B. (Diane) Shuss and grandchildren, Tia, Zane, Luke, Courtney and Seth. Ray is also survived by a sister, Veda Brokaw; brother- and sisters-in-law, Daniel (Darla) Warner, Edna Shuss, and Linda Kay (Gary) Fisher; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by brothers, Wilbur, George and Roy Shuss, and sisters, Faye Shuss and Freda Bricker.
Ray lived locally throughout his life and after working in area sawmills and clay plants, he retired as a road man for Union Township. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved horseback riding and hunting.
Services, officiated by Pastor Tommy Miller, will be held at 10am on Saturday, April 2, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow beside his beloved wife in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8pm on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
