Ramon Lee “Ray” Wilson, 83, of Dennison, passed away on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital in Canton, after a period of declining health. Born August 31, 1937 in Newcomerstown, he was the son of the late Wilbur “Beanie” and Susan B. (Davis) Wilson. Ray attended Gnadenhutten schools before beginning his long career as a truck driver. He loved driving and worked for several area trucking companies until eventually retiring from Baker Highway Express where he had been a driver for many years. He was a longtime member of Park Christian Church in Dennison.
On December 31, 1955, Ray married the former Leona Mae Gamble who survives him, along with their four children, Ramon (companion, Tina) Wilson, Trent Wilson, Susan (Troy) McMath, and Brian (Deanne) Wilson; nine grandchildren, Tabatha (Lucas) Crawshaw, Michelle (Harlen) Hirning, Ramon A. (Erica) Wilson, Jr., Jacob Wilson, Jesse (Harmony) Wilson, Hallie Blanchard, Kelly Garcia, Kenzie Herron, and Jacob Edwards; and 13 great-grandchildren with another expected. He is also survived by his sister, Carol Sue (Ed) Halsey, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin sister, Ramona Maple, and his daughter-in-law, Jane Wilson.
Ray’s son, Trent, will officiate his memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 7, at R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance.
