Ralph Edward Slentz, 53, of Dennison, O., died Monday, November 8, 2010 at Twin City Hospital in Dennison.

Born March 4, 1957 in Canton, O., he was a son of the late Ralph Earl and Dixie Lee (Pugh) Slentz.

Ralph was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in the U.S. Army from 1974 to 1977. Throughout his life, he enjoyed living in different areas of our country, including West Virginia, Georgia, and Texas, as well as many years in the Cleveland area, but he always considered Tuscarawas County to be his home.

On January 6, 1996, Ralph married Melody (Pretzer) Slentz who survives him at the home. He is also survived by a daughter, Rebecca Slentz and her companion, Jeremy Mesic, of Massillon; a son, Travis Slentz and his wife, Tia, of Dundee; four grandchildren, Ethan and Sierra Slentz, Orion Wasem, and Mattie Pearl Mesic; a stepson, Michael Connors and his wife, Danielle, of Independence, O.; four step grandchildren, Joseph, Matthew, Riley and Francis Connors; a brother, Allen Slentz of Massillon; and two dear nephews, Joseph and Joshua Slentz.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Mable Slentz, who had helped raise him.

In keeping with Ralph’s wishes, he has been cremated without a public visitation or service. A celebration of his life will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 11, at the Tappan Lake roadside park on S.R. 250. His many friends are invited to come to this informal time of fellowship and refreshments to share their favorite memories of Ralph and to offer their condolences to his family.
