Ralph "Gary" Thompson

Ralph “Gary” Thompson, 77, of Uhrichsville, passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at the Cleveland Clinic. Born April 24, 1940 in Dennison, he was a son of the late Ralph Edwin Thompson and Mary Maxine (West) Thompson-Young-Kugler. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Robert Young.

A 1958 graduate of Dennison High School, Gary was a lifelong Twin City resident. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1960 to 1964 before beginning his 35+ year career as a truck driver for several area companies. He was a member of the Dennison and Uhrichsville Eagles and the Uhrichsville Elks, and a former member of the Uhrichsville Moose.

Gary is survived by his children, Gary R. Thompson and Tanya (fiancé, Andy Tompulis) Thompson; grandchildren, Dakodah and Brooklyen Thompson, Breana Tompulis, and Noah Cottrell; sister, Rita (Jim) Dougan; stepchildren, Karen (Jeff) Smith, Raymond (fiance, Cheryl) VanLehn, and Tara (Bob) Bright; several nieces and nephews; and his former spouse and dear friend, Molly Lanning.

Services, officiated by Pastor Jim Dougan, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 7, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow with a military committal service in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday in the funeral home.
