Phillip D. Mckee

September 12, 1942 — September 12, 2014

Phillip “Phil” McKee passed away on Friday, September 12, 2014, his 72nd birthday, after a battle with respiratory illness. A son of the late Ralph and Juanita (Shepler) McKee, he was born in Columbus, Ohio on September 12, 1942. When his father joined the staff of the Daily Reporter, the family moved to Dover. Phil grew up in Dover and was a 1960 graduate of Dover High School. He was an athlete during his high school years and an avid Dover football and Ohio State Buckeye football fan all his life. He attended Ohio University and The Ohio State University before beginning his 41 year career at the Greer Steel Company.

Phil is survived by his companion and best friend of 24 years, Evelyn Tomer; daughter, Shannon Elizabeth (Ron) Trego of Huber Heights; son, P. D. Michael (Kelli) McKee of Dover; grandchildren: Marco, Darby, Brady and Collin McKee; and Evelyn’s daughter and grandchildren whom he loved like his own: Serenity (companion, Michael Parrish) Tomer of Uhrichsville and her children, Kevin L. Lillie II and Clayton Parrish. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Larry McKee.

In accordance with Phil’s wishes, he has been cremated without a public visitation. Those wishing to honor his memory are encouraged to do so by a donation to the American Cancer Society, in lieu of flowers.
