Penny Marie Halsey, 74, of Uhrichsville, Ohio, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, July 3, 2026. Born June 14, 1952 in Dennison, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Homer Alexander and Viola Alice (née Smith) Smith.
Penny was a lifelong Twin City resident who many in the community will remember for her 40+ years of waitressing at her brother’s restaurant, Rod’s Donuts. Her exuberant personality earned her a “Shut up, Penny!” badge that she proudly wore at work. She will be remembered for all the good times she shared at the local clubs, including the Uhrichsville Moose and Uhrichsville Eagles where she had been a member for 50 years, as well being a member of the Dennison Eagles. She loved playing Bingo, going on bus trips, and most of all, dancing at the clubs whenever they had bands.
On April 15, 1977, Penny married Roy Lee Halsey, Sr. with whom she shared 22 years of marriage until his passing on September 23, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Roger Smith and Rodney Smith, in addition to her parents.
Penny will be deeply missed by her daughter, Christina Civiello, with whom she had resided; her stepson who was like a son to her, Rusty (Marsha) Halsey and stepson, Roy (Karen) Halsey Jr.; grandchildren, Rocky (Heather) Civiello, Alyssa Civiello, Garett Civiello, Cameron (partner, Halie) Civiello, Stephan (Chelsea) Halsey, and Rusty Halsey Jr.; great-grandchildren, Rocky Civiello IV, Emmalynn Civiello, Makenna Civiello, Christopher Beatty, Ryker Beatty, Brantlee Beatty, Jettson Beatty, Aubrianna Civiello, Axton Civiello, Ayden Morris, Kaden Halsey, Karter Halsey, Kyzer Halsey, Kynzleigh Halsey, Jeffrey Marshall, and Tabitha Halsey; sister, Darlene (Randall) Milburn; sisters-in-law, Patty Smith and Linda Smith; many nieces and nephews; and numerous dear friends.
In keeping with Penny’s outgoing ways, her family will hold a Celebration of Life, rather than a funeral. Family and friends are invited to come together at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 1 at the Uhrichsville Moose to send Penny out in style! Memorial contributions may be made to her family, in lieu of flowers.
