Pearl DeMonde Marsh, 84, of Dennison, O., passed away at the home of her daughter on Monday, September 13, 2010 after a lengthy illness.
Born June 24, 1926 in Uhrichsville, O., she was a daughter of the late Alonzo Ralph and Rosa Claire (Gibbs) Wagstaff.
Pearl was a lifelong resident of the area and a 1944 graduate of Uhrichsville High School. After high school, she worked for the local phone company for several years as an operator, and later was a Stanley dealer. A devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, Pearl was also active in Grange at the county, state and national levels. Locally, she was a member of Prosperity Grange in addition to holding the office of Jr. Deputy in the Harrison County Grange along with her late husband. She was a member of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church and a longtime volunteer at Twin City Hospital, as well as a member of The Homemakers.
On October 2, 1947, Pearl married Wayne Lowell Marsh with whom she enjoyed nearly fifty years of marriage until his passing on March 27, 1997. They are survived by a daughter, Sandra Abel of Dennison; three sons, Donny Marsh and his wife, Loretta, of Uhrichsville, Robert Marsh and his wife, Marilou, of Atlanta, Ga., and Richard Marsh and his wife, Brenda, of Canton; seven grandchildren, Mrs. Neil (Dawn) Finnicum, Joshua Abel and his companion, Ashley Hewison, James Marsh and his wife, Dawn, Christina Marsh, Michael Marsh, and Lydia Marsh; nine great grandchildren, Cody, Mikehla, Tony, Heather, Jenna, Cheyenna, Skyler, Caleb, and Wayne; and many nieces and nephews. Pearl’s family wish to extend a special thank you to Neil and Dawn Finnicum and Joshua Abel for their loving care of Pearl at the close of her life.
In addition to her parents and husband, Pearl was preceded in death by three grandsons, Matthew A. Abel, Nathaniel Wayne Marsh, and Steven M. Marsh; and two sisters, June Bundy and Betty Long.
Services for Pearl, officiated by Pastor Scott Simmons, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 16, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. Interment will follow in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery.
Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Those wishing to honor Pearl’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the Twin City Hospital Foundation.
