Pauline Smith

Pauline Smith, 98, a longtime resident of Dennison, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Schoenbrunn Healthcare in New Philadelphia after a period of declining health. She was born March 24, 1915 in rural Bell County, Texas, a daughter of the late William Claude and Emma Lee (Keltner) Breeding.

Pauline grew up in central Texas and was a graduate of Moody, Texas high school. While employed at McCloskey Veterans Hospital in Temple, Texas, she met a serviceman named Paul Smith of Dennison. They were married October 2, 1943. After his discharge, they settled in Dennison in December of 1945. Both were active in the Eagles, with Pauline serving as a state officer for four years. She was a member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Dennison.

In addition to her parents, Pauline was preceded in death by two brothers who died in infancy; her sister, Juel Fischgrabe of Moody, Texas; and her husband, Paul, who died January 8, 1982. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Ruth Combest of Uhrichsville; a nephew, Dale Fischgrabe of Moody, Texas; great-nieces and great-nephews, Debra (Karl) Long of Alvarado, Texas, Steve (Debbie) Fischgrabe of Unionville, Missouri, Duane (Melodi) Fischgrabe of Rogers, Arkansas, Dennis (Diane) Fischgrabe of Beulah, Michigan and Dru (Brenda) Fischgrabe of Hutchinson, Minnesota; ten great-great-nieces and nephews; two great-great-great-nephews; and a very dear friend, Roger Dunaway of New Philadelphia.

Services for Pauline, officiated by Pastor George Reichman, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 20, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow beside her beloved husband in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday. An Eagles Ladies Auxiliary memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the conclusion of calling hours. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 501 N. 2nd St., Dennison, OH 44621.
