Pauline L. Devore, 87, of Uhrichsville, O., formerly a longtime resident of Stillwater and Deersville, passed away on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at Union Hospital in Dover, O. after a period of declining health.
Born February 16, 1923 in Stillwater, O., she was a daughter of the late Purl and Nora (Harper) Garner. She grew up in the Stillwater area, attending Stillwater Elementary and later Uhrichsville High School.
Pauline was the loving wife of V. Frank Devore to whom she was married on December 30, 1940. They enjoyed nearly fifty years of marriage together until his passing on September 24, 1990. She is also preceded in death by two brothers, Russell and Clyde Garner, and a sister, Nellie Devore.
Pauline and Frank were blessed with eight children who survive them: Frank Jr. Devore and his wife, Joan, of Uhrichsville, Judy Stull and her husband, Jack of Tippecanoe, Chuck Devore and his wife, Lorrie, of Deersville, Rick Devore and his wife, Tina, of Smith Grove, Ky., Roger Devore and his wife, Sandy, of St. Clairsville, Dana Meredith and her husband, Dave, of New Philadelphia, Joyce Hart and her husband, Wayne, of Uhrichsville, and Kim Cline and her husband, Don, of Mocksville, N.C., as well as twenty grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, and many step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
Pauline is also survived by two sisters, Helen Lanning of North Carolina and Fern Ferguson of Canton, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pauline devoted her life to her family, caring lovingly for her husband, children, grandchildren and home. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing bingo and was a member of a card club. Until her health prevented her, she also gave of her time and talents to the Uhrichsville First Assembly of God where she served as the church treasurer for many years.
Private family services, officiated by Pastor Florence McNutt, are planned with interment following beside her beloved husband in Deersville’s Patterson-Union Cemetery.
The public is invited to attend her graveside service which is expected to be held at 12:15 p.m., or shortly thereafter, today. All are welcome at a reception immediately following the graveside service, as well. Those wishing to honor Pauline’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the charity of their choice.
