Paul Robert Sproul

Paul Robert Sproul, 94, of Uhrichsville, O., died on Monday, September 20, 2010 at Twin City Hospital in Dennison, O. following a period of declining health.

Born April 13, 1916 in Tuscarawas County’s Rush Township near Uhrichsville, he was a son of the late Clyde Rogers and Lota Annabelle (Parks) Sproul.

In his youth, Paul attended the former Rock School. He was a lifelong resident of the area with the exception of the years that he spent serving his country in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. Upon his return from the war, Paul continued his career as a clayworker with Superior Clay Corp. where he would work until his retirement in 1978. He also enjoyed working his farm and was a member of the Star Promenaders.

On August 7, 1941, Paul married the former Lois Juanita Helter who survives him at their home. He is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

The last of his generation, he was preceded in death by a brother, Clyde Alvin Sproul, and three sisters, Alice A. Anderegg, Thelma I. Metcalf, and Phyllis Phillips, in addition to his parents.

Services for Paul, officiated by Rev. Harry Milligan, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 23, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. Interment will follow in Evergreen Burial Park in New Philadelphia.

Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Those wishing to honor Paul’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the Salvation Army.
