Patricia J. Davis

Patricia Jeralyn “Patty” Davis, 66, of Dennison, passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2019, at Union Hospital in Dover. Born January 29, 1952 in Dennison, she was a daughter of the late Frank Joseph and Elvira (Pica) Downing.

A 1970 graduate of Claymont High School, Patty was a lifelong Twin City resident who took pride in the fact that she grew up on the Southside of Dennison where she was part of a large, tightknit Italian-American community that shared countless meals and memories over the years. Her Italian heritage and neighbors were the strong foundation of her life. She was a longtime member of the Uhrichsville Women of the Moose, having served as a past officer, and she loved socializing with her friends there. She retired in 2013 from WalMart after many years of employment, working her way up the ladder to senior management.

Patty is survived by her daughter, Nicole Theresa Peters (husband, George); son, Paul (Christopher) Garrett (partner, Jamie Wolfe); grandsons, Jaret, Kole and Will Aubiel; brothers, Francis Downing (wife, Paula) and Robert Downing (wife, Marie); and many nieces and nephews. Patty was very proud of her children and grandchildren and loved talking about them to her friends. In recent years, although her health prevented her from attending her grandsons’ sporting events, she faithfully listened to them on the radio and kept up to date on all of their achievements. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former spouses, Dean Garrett who was her children’s father, and Jim Davis.

Services, officiated by Pastor Mike Travis, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 15, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
