Pastor William Alan Thompson, 69, of Dennison, was called home to the Lord on Friday, October 8, 2021, from Mercy Medical Center in Canton. Born July 28, 1952 in Dover, he was the son of the late William Emmett and Doris (Snyder) Thompson.
A 1971 graduate of New Philadelphia High School, Bill served his country in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany. He returned home to a career as a welder with Superior Welding before devoting himself to full-time ministry. He served the Lord as pastor at The Lighthouse Foursquare Church in Uhrichsville. In retirement, he has been a member of Dennison Foursquare Church.
Pastor Bill will be deeply missed by his surviving family which includes his wife, Deborah Mary (Langell) Thompson; son, William J. “Jerry” (Alicia) Thompson; daughter, Charity Lee Thompson: step children, Cheryl Madonna, Kelly (Josh) Conley, Mark (Angela) Meister, and Andrew (Deanne) Meister; numerous grandchildren; sister, Diane (Dan) Metzger; and several nieces and nephews, as well as a large and loving church family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Sandra (Steele) Thompson; second wife, Rev. Roxie (Farrier) Thompson; and stepson, Rockie Patterson.
Pastor Rod Phillips will officiate an 11:00 a.m. funeral on Wednesday, October 13, at Dennison Foursquare Church and a graveside service at 2:00 p.m. that day at Fairview Cemetery in Jewett. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. His family request that all who attend please wear a mask and maintain social distancing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Ranch in Jewett and the American Cancer Society.
