Oma "Dody" Josephine Conway

Oma Josephine “Dody” Conway, 87, of Uhrichsville, passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at Union Hospital in Dover. Born February 19, 1931 in Warwick Twp., Tuscarawas Co., Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Harry Martin and Lela Gertrude (Covert) Fouts.

A lifelong resident of Uhrichsville, Dody attended Uhrichsville High School and was a member of Uhrichsville Christian Fellowship. For over 40 years, she was employed in the dietary department, and later as a receptionist, at the former Valley Manor Nursing Home (now Schoenbrunn Healthcare). She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother who cherished the time that she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. Dody was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Alan Jackson. Above all, her faith was at the center of her life, and she loved to read her Bible every day.

On November 27, 1947, Dody married Harold Conway with whom she enjoyed nearly 49 years of marriage until his passing on November 24, 1996. They are survived by 3 daughters, Sandy Long, Sue (Steve) Hartsough and Sherry (Steve) Applegarth; grandchildren, Nikki Miller, Tyson Sharkey and Brandy (Clarence) Kramer; great-grandchildren, Olivia Miller, Cierra Kramer and Madison Kramer; and great-great-granddaughter, Anastasia Moore. Dody is also survived by her brother, Ralph “Bud” (Mary Jo) Fouts, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Fouts, and sister, Marilyn “Bunny” Borne.

Services, officiated by Pastor Tom Klaserner, will be held at noon on Friday, April 13, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery beside her beloved husband. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. to noon at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
