Norma Jean Long, 77, of Uhrichsville, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, September 11, 2010. Born September 13, 1932 at Dennison, she was a daughter of the late Carl B. and Grace (Fulton) Watson.
A life resident of our area, Jean, as she preferred to be called, was a 1950 Uhrichsville High School graduate. Jean devoted her life to her family as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. Jean loved doing quilting and embroidery for her family and friends and also for charity auctions. Jean enjoyed spending time tending to her flower gardens and feeding and watching the birds and wildlife while sitting on her swing under the shade arbor.
On February 2, 1952, Jean wed Ralph Long, Jr. who survives her at their home.
In addition to her husband of over 58 years, Jean’s surviving family include, daughter Debra and husband Tom Alpeter of New Philadelphia; son Randy and wife Donna Long of Uhrichsville; grandson Adam Long of Uhrichsville; sister Dorothy Kreinbihl of Dover; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Dennis “Denny” Watson.
In keeping with her wishes, Jean will be cremated with no viewing or visitation to be held.
